Sustaining People

Sustaining the Indigenous People
The components that propel RainTrust to emerge as an innovative sustainable Conservation Organization are the effective programs and the scale of the projects. Recognizing the critical links between the well being of the people and biodiversity conservation, we began implementing our conservation-based rationale for integrating RainTrust Eco- Nomics into programs specifically designed to increase community participation for the benefit of conservation in the long term.
A Comprehensive Rescue Plan
RainTrust has created a comprehensive rescue plan that directly addresses the environmental crisis We understand that is it the people that live in the forest that must be saved first. They are the keepers of the trees and therefore the starts of our air and biodiversity. currently causing the loss of over 200,000 acres of the world’s rainforests every day. This is an area greater than the size of New York City’s 5 boroughs. We have identified and created market-driven economic opportunities that sustain permanent ecological stabilization and generate new job growth and revenue streams throughout the critically imperiled tropical rainforest regions of the world.
Self Sustaining Profitable Funds
Unlike typical (and often ambiguous) government-funded or international NGO conservation projects, RainTrust’s “Eco-nomic” model is designed to create self-sustaining funding and profitable investment vehicles dedicated to land conservation and workforce development through environmentally sustainable uses of the rainforest.
The RainTrust “Eco-nomic” model is designed to significantly multiply the positive economic and environmental impact of every product and service it develops and sells. By investing and reinvesting the proceeds in sustainable rainforest enterprises, RainTrust will create a ripple effect that will have long-lasting implications for the future of the rainforest and the ecological health of the planet.
RainTrust provides an ECO-nomic return to the owners of rainforest lands by valuing the asset far higher than achievable through deforestation practices currently destroying our planet.
Were there an easier available place to find new oil than a mile beneath the sea, they'd be drilling there. The accident in the Gulf of Mexico is minor compared with what is happening and yet invisible to the air we breathe.
Earth is no longer the planet on which we were born. The change is nothing as obvious and immediate as the slick in the gulf or as limited to one spot on the map. It is gradual and invisible yet all invasive; not unlike many diseases we may encounter at some stage. Most diseases, being invisible are deniable, at least for a while: "How could I be afflicted in my prime this? There must be some mistake… leave it and it will go away."
We're in trouble, but we're still focusing mainly on undeniable perturbations, such as oil slicks and the global debt crisis--undeniable and relatively minor. If we can encourage the "green shoots" and return to vigorous growth, our leaders assume, everything will be okay…. really? Meanwhile, like the untreated disease, global warming marches on, invariably with one ultimate outcome – finality!
Is it possible the same end result could apply to our little spinning Planet, in an obscure galaxy, amongst the eleven billion other galaxies? The answer is a clear yes, however life and death amongst the planets and stars is determined by factors external to those planets and stars; however we are unique in that our potential inevitability is of our own making.
Change'Climate Change'
Current climate change issues we are facing on Planet Earth result directly from relentlessly combusting fossil fuels. These fossil fuels were laid down over tens of millions of years, yet we wantonly destroy them in comparative seconds.
Carbon dioxide, resulting from the oxidation of carbon, is released in an exothermic reaction. The reaction releases energy we use beneficially, however the combustion reaction also spews out carbon dioxide to increment levels beyond those experienced on Earth in the prior millions of years. As recently as the start of the Industrial Revolution the concentration was only 275 parts per million (ppm); now it's 390 ppm. Experts comment that unless we are able to rapidly return to below 350 ppm this century, we risk reaching tipping points and irreversible impacts such as the melting of the Greenland ice sheet and major methane releases from increased permafrost melt. Methane is 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide as a climate change impacting gas.

A chorus of Climate Scientists is now saying:
* If we continue with business as usual, we are facing a rise in global temperatures that will be little short of apocalyptic.
* Assuming we continue business as usual, average temperatures will be about 9 degrees Fahrenheit higher in 2100 than they were in 2000
* The last time the earth experienced warming at anything like the pace we now experience was about 55 million years ago. That increase was associated with mass extinctions.
The following graph tells a chilling story as fifty years of precise recording captures the relentless march north of CO2 concentration is seen to be; the conclusion is obvious – intervene or expire!
“We have to show leadership in protecting our environment so that we have a future for our children and grandchildren.” - Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“Over the long haul of life on this planet, it is the ecologists, and not the bookkeepers of business, who are the ultimate accountants.” - Stewart Udall
RainTrust intervenes by investing and reinvesting revenues in sustainable rainforest enterprises to create a ripple effect with long-lasting implications for the future of the rainforest, associated eco-systems and the ecological health of the planet.

The RainTrust “Ripple Effect
200,000 acres of rainforest is devastated daily – an area greater than the size of New York City’s five boroughs. RainTrust has created a comprehensive rescue plan directly addressing the resultant environmental crisis this causes as it has identified and created market-driven economic activities to:
* Preserve rainforest
* Commence relevant reforestation
* Undertake economically and environmentally sustainable renewable green energy projects on degraded land
* Sustain permanent ecological stabilization
* Generate new job growth and revenue streams in the critically imperiled tropical rainforest regions.
Unlike typical (and often ambiguous) government-funded or international NGO conservation projects, RainTrust’s “Eco-Nomic” model is designed for economic returns to deliver a “ripple effect” and facilitating self-sustaining funding projects dedicated to land conservation and workforce development through environmentally sustainable uses of the rainforest.
RainTrust Eco-Nomic Model:
The "RainTrust “Eco-Nomic” model is designed to significantly multiply the positive economic and environmental impact of every product and service it develops, produces and sells. By investing and reinvesting the proceeds in sustainable rainforest enterprises, RainTrust will create a ripple effect that will have long-lasting implications for the future of the rainforest and the ecological health of the planet.
RainTrust provides an ECO-Nomic return to the owners of rainforest lands by creating identifiable and lasting revenue streams justifying asset valuations far in excess of those achievable through short term deforestation practices currently adding to decimation of our planet.
Recognition of RainTrust as an innovative and valid sustainable conservation organization has been core to RainTrust being able to scale operations. Several governments and NGOS are joining RainTrust in its conservation model with the likelihood of inclusion of lands from Mexico and Papua New Guinea. Other initiatives will see millions of hectares more land signed into protection under the terms of RainTrust’s proprietary Conservation Agreement.
Individual and corporate sponsors will receive a RainTrust Land Preservation Certificate that includes actual GPS coordinates of the specific designated “Reserve”. The certificate represents a legal conservation agreement committing the landowner to adhere to strict international guidelines while providing stakeholders including indigenous people and local government an ability to monetize their unvalued land assets through the RainTrust model.
The RainTrust Conservation Agreement is written to accommodate under local law and is in accordance with internationally accepted standards of conservation, preservation, and responsible land use. RainTrust always complies with FSC certification standards.
RainTrust Private Reserve sponsors are provided with the unique GPS coordinates enabling them to track, monitor and participate in their sponsored land in many ways. It is even possible for them to add data to the many layers of information already populating the data base and available to grid coordinates. Management, or marketing information sought by Private Reserve sponsors, can be provided by RainTrust; for example this could include; animal species or plant life which can easily be loaded to the data base and displayed for selected groups. Even personal messages, music and photos can be uploaded and left for others to see and hear.
The RainTrust Conservation Agreement is a “win-win” breakthrough for private landowners, governments, corporations, countries and local indigenous peoples. The agreement provides all management and stewardship of their Private Reserve for sustainable management.
Investing and Reinvesting Revenues in Sustainable Rainforest Enterprises:
By investing and reinvesting revenues in sustainable rainforest enterprises, RainTrust creates a ripple effect that will have long-lasting implications for the future of the rainforest, the economic growth of its peoples and the ecological health of the planet.

The RainTrust Conservation Agreement is a “win-win” breakthrough for private landowners, governments, corporations. and local peoples. The agreement provides full or co-stewardship of their land for sustainable management and requires that the landowner will not cause or allow any additional deforestation in exchange for RainTrust providing an “eco-nomic” negotiated return from net profit sales of specific extractive reserves inherent on their property.
