What we do
Rainforest – RainTrust identifies, negotiates and secures rainforest and seeks to protect it in perpetuity for the benefit of all life on the Planet.
Reforestation – In situations where it is possible, RainTrust will endeavour to re-establish destroyed rainforest to take it back to its pristine state.
Renewable Green Energy – RainTrust establishes green energy projects appropriate to degraded forest situations and involving all local stakeholders.
Environmental Commodities including Carbon credits – RainTrust validates and verifies its lands for carbon credits and proprietary biodiversity credits.
Challenge and Solution – Conservation of vulnerable and important rainforest and related ecosystems is the principal RainTrust mission; environment, indigenous people and financial aspects are the main drivers associated with these objectives. Whether it is intermittent loggers or total decimation of rainforest the cause is generally the same and that is, those in control of the land (natives or other power groups) secure a financial advantage is destroying the rainforest. Intervention is needed and most forms of intervention have a financial base. The RainTrust modus operandi is to step in to these destructive relationships and construct a resolve that works for all stakeholders and in particular the indigenous people.
The RainTrust solution embraces all solutions as we enter agreements through our Proprietary Conservation Agreement to secure and protect rainforest for perpetuity; commence a reforestation program; or enter a renewable green energy initiative. All solutions are long term as they address the principal stakeholder need of generating adequate revenue streams, sufficient to bring to an end any deforestation activities.
A solution founded on financial principles is seen as imperative. This is the language clearly understood by those able to vote rainforest resources and the fastest and most effective methodology of bringing rainforest devastation and the havoc brought to bear on local populations, forest animals, water resources, atmospheric emissions and the majesty and aesthetic beauty of rainforests, to an end. The RainTrust philosophy accordingly is to build fair and equitable revenue streams capable of being cost-effectively directed back to deserving stakeholders.
These revenue streams are generated by models appropriate to the local circumstance and incorporate a combination of the following:
Rainforest Reserves – Entities can secure and protect GPS identified reserves in their own names
RainTrust Enviornmental Credits – Quantifying, packaging and marketing carbon, biodiversity and related credits
Renewable Green Energy Projects – Assessing degraded lands incapable of being reforested, yet capable of sustaining green energy projects to generate energy and revenue locally
Carbon Offsets – RainTrust has adopted corporate social responsibility principles bringing environment-based carbon credits, and related environmental and biodiverse credits to the Public Domain. Revenues generated from the marketing of these credits are then cost-effectively invested to benefit all stakeholders in a fair and equitable way.
Renewable Green Energy Projects – Relationships in regions with optimal conditions for generating renewable green energy present an opportunity to play a meaningful role in profitably developing this market and simultaneously conserving other biological assets. With the financial world becoming increasingly attuned to the need for “offset credits” such as carbon credits, the market for agribusiness resources is rapidly developing. Private sector involvement in the development of renewable resources is the only basis on which lasting advances toward economic sustainability can be achieved and RainTrust operates entirely in ‘Green’, environmentally responsible markets. Becoming a financial stakeholder in projects capable of generating renewable green energy and thus creating the potential for long term revenue streams back to stakeholders is an important contributing role for RainTrust.
RainTrust management and operational expertise are based mainly in the equatorial countries, and it is these countries with maximum biomass growing capability that will be critical to future green energy provision. Significantly, RainTrust has established key relationships with entities able to commit in a number of these countries and it is these countries in the “biomass zone” that still possess pristine rainforest and possess substantial renewable green generation capability.
Criteria for project commitment have been defined and include:
Community friendly – Projects need to be sensitive to Community needs
Consultation, Planning and Monitoring – Projects shall be designed and operated under appropriate, Comprehensive, transparent, consultative and participatory processes involving all stakeholders
Human and Labour Rights – Projects must not violate human rights or labour rights and shall ensure decent work and the well-being of workers
Rural and Social Development – Projects shall contribute to the Social and Economic development of local, rural and indigenous peoples and Communities
Conservation and Biodiversity – Projects shall avoid negative impacts on biodiversity, ecosystems and areas of High Conservation Value and seek to make positive contributions
Soil – Projects shall promote practices that seek to improve soil health and minimize degradation
Water – Projects shall optimize surface and groundwater resource use, including avoiding contamination or depletion of these resources, and shall not violate existing formal and customary water rights
Land Rights – Projects shall not violate land rights or fail to include indigenous peoples in project benefits.
